Police in California have arrested a former Transportation Security Administration employee and accused him of making terrorist threats at an airport just before the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.<\/div>\n

Nna Alpha Onuoha, 29, is in police custody after being
\napprehended just before midnight on Tuesday outside of a church
\nin Riverside, California near Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Onuoha resigned from the TSA earlier Tuesday, Sept. 10, after
\nmore than six years of employment as a security screener at Los
\nAngeles International Airport. After walking away from his TSA
\ngig, Onuoha allegedly phoned in threats to LAX and left a
\nsuspicious package at the airport that prompted the Los Angeles
\nPolice Department to deploy their bomb squad.<\/p>\n

After police addressed the suspicious package at TSA’s LAX
\nheadquarters, a man believed to be Onuoha dialed up the airport
\nand demanded that employees \u201cbegin evacuating certain
\nterminals<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a local NBC affiliate, Onuoha is accused of calling
\nup TSA and warning an agent on the other end of the line that he
\nwould \u201cbe watching<\/i>\u201d to see if they followed his orders.
\nThe airport was evacuated, but the LAPD did not find any evidence
\nsuggesting an attack of sorts was imminent.<\/p>\n

The package left at TSA headquarters \u2013 addressed to a former
\nco-worker of Onuoha \u2013 reportedly contained an eight-page letter
\ncritical of the United States and the TSA. An investigation at
\nOnuoha’s Inglewood, CA residence later in the day turned up a
\nnote taped to the inside of his closet. Federal Bureau of
\nInvestigation spokeswoman Laura Einmiller told reporters that the
\nletter contained \u201can unspecified threat citing the 9\/11\/13
\nanniversary<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigators tracked down Onuoha later that evening after
\nlocating his vehicle at the Riverside’s Harvest Christian
\nFellowship Church. Riverside Police Lt. Milby told NBC4 that more
\nsuspicious packages were located in Onuoha’s car, and a bomb
\nsquad was once again called to assist.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Patrick M. Gannon issued a
\nstatement amid the manhunt for Onuoha saying that three major
\narea traffic hubs would see an increased police presence
\nfollowing what was described as an incidence at LAX “involving
\na disgruntled former airport worker and the 9\/11 anniversary
\ntragedy<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The FBI told NBC that Onuoha is suspected of violating federal
\nand state laws involving the making of terrorist threats, but
\nhave not immediately filed charges.<\/p>\n

Onuoha’s resignation came one day short of commemorating 12 years
\nsince al-Qaeda extremists hijacked four airlines and crashed them
\ninto the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania
\nfield. Roughly 3,000 people died in the terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n
