{"id":66379,"date":"2013-09-06T18:10:04","date_gmt":"2013-09-06T17:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/obama-congress-should-ignore-vast-majority-of-voters-and-support-me\/66379\/"},"modified":"2013-09-06T18:10:04","modified_gmt":"2013-09-06T17:10:04","slug":"obama-congress-should-ignore-vast-majority-of-voters-and-support-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/obama-congress-should-ignore-vast-majority-of-voters-and-support-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama: Congress Should Ignore Vast Majority of Voters and Support Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- START CONTENT --><\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers know better than 99% of the voters, Obama implied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kit Daniels<\/strong><br \/>Infowars.com<br \/>September 6, 2013<\/p>\n<p>In a speech today at the G20 Summit in Russia, President Barack Obama stated that members of Congress should listen to their voters but ultimately should act on their own, against their constituency, in order to make a decision that is \u201cright for America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Segment begins at the 27:45 minute mark.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Obama made this revealing statement after a journalist asked, \u201cOne of your closest allies in the House said yesterday, \u2018When you\u2019ve got 97 percent of your constituents saying no, it\u2019s kind of hard to say yes.\u2019  Why should members of Congress go against the will of their constituents and support your decision on this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, with respect to Congress and how they should respond to constituency concerns, you know, I do consider it part of my job to help make the case and to explain to the American people exactly why I think this is the right thing to do,\u201d Obama said.  \u201cIt\u2019s conceivable that at the end of the day, I don\u2019t persuade a majority of the American people that it\u2019s the right thing to do and then each member of Congress is gonna have to decide, if I think it\u2019s the right thing to do for America\u2019s national security and the world\u2019s national security, then how do I vote?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you know what? That\u2019s \u2013 that\u2019s what you\u2019re supposed to do as a member of Congress. Ultimately, you listen to your constituents, but you\u2019ve also got to make some decisions about what you believe is right for America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In short, Obama will try to influence Americans into supporting his war, but failing that, Congress should just ignore the vast majority of voters against the war and approve military action in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>This is right in line with a senior State Department official\u2019s earlier statement that \u201cthe president\u2019s decision to take military action in Syria still stands, and will indeed be carried out, regardless of whether Congress votes next week to approve the use of such force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.infowars.com\/99-of-calls-to-congress-against-war-in-syria\/\">we reported yesterday<\/a>, Congress members across the nation are being overwhelmed by unprecedented opposition towards a war in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m told the phone calls are 9 out of 10 against a strike in Syria, from my constituents in Kentucky,\u201d said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Az.) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/357594\/representative-matt-salmon-syria-authorization-will-fail-20-votes-jonathan-strong\">told the National Review<\/a> that out of the 500 voters who called his office recently, 498 of them adamantly wanted to stay out of Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-war sentiments are prevailing in both major parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can tell you 99 percent of the calls coming to my office are against it,\u201d Maryland Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/noel-sheppard\/2013\/09\/04\/democrat-congressman-cummings-99-calls-my-office-are-against-attackin\">said to MSNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is interesting to note that in 2012, 76% of his district voted for Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Other representatives have tweeted similar statements:<\/p>\n<p>As we have exhaustively documented in the past, American troops may find themselves fighting alongside al-Qaeda in they are deployed to Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should be focused on defending the United States of America,\u201d Sen.
