The commander of Iran\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base says the country remains a key player in sustaining the region\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s stability while safeguarding its territory against invaders.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cIran is a great, independent country with a historic identity and civilization, which is influential in political equations and the anchor of stability in the region,\u201d Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said on Wednesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He said the Iranian Armed Forces will use their progressive military capability to deter threats from arrogant powers, protect the country\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s national interests, and promote peace and stability for other independent nations and allies.<\/p>\n
Esmaili recalled the sacrifices the Iranian nation has made to achieve independence and freedom, stressing the need for preventing any enemy domination and protecting independence in all fields as unwavering tenets of the Islamic Republic.\n<\/p>\n
He highlighted Iran\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s military achievements over the past years, noting how the country has managed to design and produce modern defense systems and equipment in the face of illegal Western sanctions.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cToday, we have achieved self sufficiency in the field of air defense, in the design and production of different kinds of active and passive radar systems: different data collecting sensors, communication, command and control systems, and different types of surface-to-air battery and missile systems to counter various threats,\u201d he stated.\n<\/p>\n
The commander condemned the meddling of foreign powers in the internal affairs of other countries, and denounced their role in the ongoing crises in North Africa and the Middle East.\n<\/p>\n
He also downplayed Israel\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s claims of having an invincible army, recalling how missiles fired by Lebanese and Palestinian resistance fighters proved Tel Aviv\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s so-called Iron Dome permeable.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the hollow power of the global arrogance and the occupying (Israeli) regime is mere propaganda imposed on the world\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s public by media giants, and thus they will not be able to resist the massive wave of people, the nations\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 power of faith and solidarity,\u201d he added.\n<\/p>\n
