And we have to turn on him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stone argued that Obama is using terrorism as an excuse for utilizing the same big government surveillance techniques, focused on the American people, that figures such as J. Edgar Hoover did.<\/p>\n<p>Stone has previously decried US foreign policy under Obama, and spoken out regarding the administration\u2019s disregard for the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>He has called Obama is a wolf in sheep\u2019s clothing and that people have forgiven him a lot because of the \u201cnightmare of the Bush presidency that preceded him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has taken all the Bush changes he basically put them into the establishment, he has codified them,\u201d Stone <a href=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/op-edge\/oliver-stone-us-orwellian-022\/\" target=\"_blank\">told RT last year<\/a>. \u201cIt is an Orwellian state. It might not be oppressive on the surface, but there is no place to hide. Some part of you is going to end up in the database somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With his comments on Syria, Stone, who served as an infantry soldier during the Vietnam war, is relatively isolated amongst \u201canti-war\u201d leftists, many of whom either <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/09\/02\/noam-chomsky-syria_n_3851911.html\" target=\"_blank\">meekly oppose<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/politix.topix.com\/homepage\/7714-leftists-explain-their-silence-on-syrian-intervention\" target=\"_blank\">actually support<\/a> obama\u2019s push to attack Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Asked recently \u2018where is the anti-war movement now?\u2019, former Congressman Dennis Kucinich replied \u201cWhat anti-war movement?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Medea Benjamin of the radical group Code Pink notes: \u201cThe antiwar movement is a shadow of its former self under the Bush years.\u201d Anti-war mom Cindy Sheehan recently noted \u201cThe \u2018anti-war left\u2019 was used by the Democratic Party. I like to call it the \u2018anti-Republican War\u2019 movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A recent online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/wonkblog\/wp\/2013\/08\/29\/where-did-the-antiwar-movement-go\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a> piece details how Obama successfully demobilized the antiwar movement, citing a 2011 study by sociologists Michael T.
