Hundreds of Pakistani lawyers have held a mass protest rally in eastern city of Lahore to protest against a possible US-led military intervention in Syria.\n<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, a large number of lawyers and activists poured into streets of the eastern city of Lahore, chanting anti-American slogans and torching American flags and effigies of US President Barack Obama.\n<\/p>\n
They called on the Muslim nations to collectively confront the US and Israeli conspiracies in the region.\n<\/p>\n
The rally comes as people around the world are staging anti-war rallies against a possible US attack on Syria.\n<\/p>\n
Mass protests have been held in the Occupied West Bank, Jordan, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Tunisia, and Turkey. Anti-war activists have also gathered in front of the White House to condemn President Obama’s policy on Syria.\n<\/p>\n
The call for military action against Syria intensified after foreign-backed opposition forces accused the government of President Bashar al-Assad of launching a chemical attack on militant strongholds in the suburbs of Damascus on August 21.\n<\/p>\n
Damascus has vehemently denied the accusations, saying the chemical attack was carried out by the militants themselves as a false-flag operation.\n<\/p>\n
Senior Syrian officials say the West is seeking to turn Syria into a second Iraq and that the issue of chemical weapons use is only a pretext for war.\n<\/p>\n
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.\n<\/p>\n
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced due to the violence.\n<\/p>\n
