In fact, the only thing they have in common is that they are both black. Yet somehow, Western media outlets have managed to draw parallels between these diametrically opposed figures \u2014 presumably because they are indeed both black. AP recently published an article titled, \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/wireStory\/obama-embodies-kings-dream-struggle-20089903?singlePage=true\">Obama Embodies King\u2019s Dream and His Struggle<\/a>,\u201d stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe scheduled appearance later Wednesday of Obama, the first African-American president, was certain to embody the fulfilled dreams of hundreds of thousands who rallied there in 1963\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Why? Merely because President Obama is black? Or because President Obama embodies any of the ideals of justice, equality, and peace that Martin Luther King Jr. championed for during life, and ultimately died for?<\/p>\n<p>There is no greater way to defile the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. than to compare him with US President Barack Obama \u2014 a servant of an engine for the greatest disparity, inequality, and injustice on Earth \u2014 driven by the very\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/landdestroyer.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/naming-names-your-real-government.html\">corporate-financier interests<\/a>\u00a0King stood up against, was opposed by throughout his entire life, and most likely was killed by.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Image<\/b><\/i>:<i>\u00a0A visual representation of the corporate-financier special interests represented by US President Barack Obama\u2019s cabinet, past and present.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, despite the left-leaning facade President Obama displays publicly, his entire cabinet, past and present, is a collection of corporate-financier special interests, warmongers, criminals, and elitists who merely couch a corporate-fascist, self-serving agenda behind well-meaning liberal-esque causes. A look at these characters more closely reveals just this:<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blogger.com\/null\" name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Timothy Geithner\u00a0(Secretary of the Treasury):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.group30.org\/past_members.shtml\">Group of 30<\/a>,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/about\/membership\/roster.html?letter=G\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>, private Federal Reserve<br \/>Eric Holder\u00a0(Attorney General):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/people\/h\/eric_h_holder_jr\/index.html\">Covington &amp; Burling<\/a>\u00a0lobbying for Merck and representing\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/politico\/20081120\/pl_politico\/15805_1\">Chiquita International Brands<\/a>\u00a0in lawsuits brought by relatives of people killed by Colombian terrorists.<br \/>Eric Shinseki\u00a0(Secretary of Veteran Affairs): US Army,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/about\/membership\/roster.html?letter=S\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/44\/2008\/12\/shinseki-slated-to-head-va-dem.html?hpid=topnews\">Honeywell<\/a>director (military contractor), Ducommun director (military contractor).<br \/>Rahm Emanuel\u00a0(former Chief of Staff):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/politics\/obama\/chi-rahm-emanuel-profit-26-mar26,0,5682373.story\">Freddie Mac<\/a><br \/>William Daley\u00a0(former Chief of Staff):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/investing.businessweek.com\/businessweek\/research\/stocks\/people\/person.asp?personId=1339960&amp;ticker=JPM:US&amp;previousCapId=370857&amp;previousTitle=Boeing%20Co.\">JP Morgan<\/a>\u00a0executive committee member<br \/><b>Jacob \u201cJack\u201d Lew<\/b>\u00a0(Chief of Staff)\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/about\/membership\/roster.html?letter=L\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.yu.edu\/news\/2012\/11\/26\/yu-hanukkah-dinner-and-convocation\/\">Brookings Institution<\/a>\u00a0(<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonproject.org\/about_us\/our_people\/\">Hamilton Project<\/a>)<br \/>Susan Rice\u00a0(UN Ambassador):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/media\/NewsReleases\/2002\/20020913rice.aspx\">McKinsey and Company<\/a>, Brookings Institution, Council on Foreign Relations<br \/>Peter Orszag, (former Budget Director):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/ap\/financialnews\/D9K0J0KG0.htm\">Citi Group<\/a>, Council on Foreign Relations<br \/>Paul Volcker:\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/experts\/world\/paul-a-volcker\/b451\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>, private Federal Reserve,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.group30.org\/members.shtml\">Group of 30<\/a><br \/>Ronald Kirk\u00a0(US Trade Representative):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/02\/28\/business\/energy-environment\/28txu.html?pagewanted=all\">lobbyist<\/a>, part of Goldman Sachs, Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts, and Texas Pacific Group partnership to buyout Energy Future Holdings.<br \/>Lawrence Summers\u00a0(National Economic Council Director):\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1999\/05\/13\/business\/a-new-economic-team-the-nominee-the-administration-s-fiscal-closer.html?sec=&amp;spon=&amp;pagewanted=all\">World Bank,<\/a>\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/about\/membership\/roster.html?letter=S\">Council on Foreign Relations,<\/a>\u00a0Brookings Institution (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hamiltonproject.org\/about_us\/our_people\/\">Hamilton Project<\/a>)<br \/><a target=\"_blank\" name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><b><i>Image<\/i><\/b><i>: Brookings Institution\u2019s corporate backers \u2014 clear very un-liberal, and clearly not the sort of interests Martin Luther King Jr. supported.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, representation of the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfr.org\/about\/corporate\/roster.html\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/121406132\">Brookings Institution (page 19, .pdf)<\/a>should give any genuine left-leaning liberal pause for thought. These are think-tanks created by and for big business. The Brookings Institution in particular is home of the very architects of \u201cGeorge Bush\u2019s\u201d myriad of wars \u2014 as well as the wars now being waged under Obama.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, Obama\u2019s policy is driven by not only the exact same corporate-financier interests that drove Bush\u2019s, but in fact, many of the exact same individuals are writing the policy versus nations like\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/landdestroyer.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/libya-war-for-world-government.html\">Libya<\/a>,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/landdestroyer.blogspot.com\/2012\/05\/us-brookings-wants-to-bleed-syria-to.html\">Syria<\/a>, and\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/landdestroyer.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/which-path-to-persia-redux.html\">Iran<\/a>today who were behind \u201cBush\u2019s\u201d Iraq and Afghanistan wars \u2014 the consequences of which still are reverberating. This is what is called, \u201ccontinuity of agenda,\u201d with the feigned political proclivities of both Bush and Obama being nothing more than carefully orchestrated theater to divide and distract the public as a singular agenda transcends presidencies and perceived political lines.<\/p>\n<p><b>King was also an Adamant Anti-War Activist<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.\u2019s famous \u201cI have a dream\u201d speech, should he still walk this world today, would undoubtedly be taking the podium and speaking out against the latest war the US and its collaborators are gearing up for against Syria. He would undoubtedly have condemned the global war Obama has waged from Mali to Libya, from Syria to Afghanistan and the borders of Pakistan, from Yemen to Somalia, to Uganda and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>In a speech given on April 4, 1967 in New York City titled, \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanrhetoric.com\/speeches\/mlkatimetobreaksilence.htm\">Beyond Vietnam \u2014 A Time to Break Silence<\/a>,\u201d King gives what is perhaps the widest encapsulation of his philosophy and worldview, one that would undoubtedly criticize and clash with the disingenuous US presidents of today, during their hollow celebrations of King\u2019s iconic speech.<\/p>\n<p>We should carefully reread King\u2019s\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanrhetoric.com\/speeches\/mlkatimetobreaksilence.htm\">enlightening speech criticizing the Vietnam War<\/a>\u00a0which in part states [emphasis added]:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><b>A true revolution of values will lay hand on the world order and say of war, \u201cThis way of settling differences is not just.<\/b>\u201d This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation\u2019s homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into the veins of peoples normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice, and love.\u00a0<b>A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>America, the richest and most powerful nation in the world, can well lead the way in this revolution of values.\u00a0<b>There is nothing except a tragic death wish to prevent us from reordering our priorities so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war<\/b>. There is nothing to keep us from molding a recalcitrant status quo with bruised hands until we have fashioned it into a brotherhood.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The US preparing to attack Syria, citing a humanitarian catastrophe\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/reporting\/2007\/03\/05\/070305fa_fact_hersh?currentPage=all\">it itself intentionally engineered as early as 2007<\/a>\u00a0to divide and destroy both Damascus and its allies in Tehran, is surely \u201cnot just.\u201d Rushing to war with fabrications (again), is surely \u201cnot just.\u201d Sidestepping international law to pursue a hegemonic war dressed up as a humanitarian intervention is surely \u201cnot just.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is safe to say that America has not mended its ways and only traveled further down the dark path King warned us of back in 1967.
