British troops have carried out a secret mission against Taliban insurgents in Sangin area of Helmand province, Britain\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s Ministry of Defense (MoD) has revealed.\n<\/p>\n
Almost 80 British soldiers were sent to Sangin district under British Defence Secretary Philip Hammond\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s permission in order to clear Taliban insurgents during a week-long mission, The Sunday Times <\/i> reported.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cIn support of the Afghan forces who now have the security lead across the country, UK personnel do on occasion operate outside the usual UK area of operations in central Helmand in an advisory capacity,\u201d the MoD said in a statement.\n<\/p>\n
The operation, however, was kept secret until after it was completed earlier this week.\n<\/p>\n
The MoD announced that a number of insurgents were killed and detained during the operation. It also said there were no British forces casualties during the secret mission in the war-torn country.\n<\/p>\n
More than 100 British forces, however, were killed in Sangin disrict between 2006 and 2010.\n<\/p>\n
Moreover, it added that Sangin \u00c5\u201cremains a challenging area\u201d for Afghan forces to deal with.\n<\/p>\n
According to the United Nation\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s 2012 report, at least 14,728 civilians have died since Britain and its western allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to allegedly take democracy and stability to the country.\n<\/p>\n
Facts on the ground, however, show exactly the opposite with foreign forces whitewashing their continued massacre of civilians with terms such as “collateral damage” in the fight against terrorists.\n<\/p>\n
