International opinion of the British Broadcasting Corporation is set to plummet over their refusal<\/strong> to air a short appeal for the British umbrella aid group, the Disasters Emergency Commission ( DEC )<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The indefensible claim led to a knock on effect of other media outlets also refusing to air <\/span>Gaza<\/span> appeals, notably Sky News<\/em> and ITN<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Disasters Emergency Commission<\/strong> is an umbrella organisation, created in 1963 to help administer and co-ordinate multiple charities funds and aid, so that they could be better targeted to those who are most in need.<\/span><\/p>\n

The BBC claim that they don\u2019t wish to risk public opinion regarding their impartiality. A spokesperson said today: “The decision was made because of question marks about the delivery of aid in a volatile situation and also to avoid any risk of compromising public confidence in the BBC’s impartiality in the context of (a) news story.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The BBC reneged on a 46 year old agreement dating back to 1963 in which they agreed to be part of the DEC<\/strong>\u2019s \u2018Rapid Response Network\u2019, giving airtime to help them fundraise for emergency appeals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The DEC<\/strong> consists of 13 member Aid agencies which include Save the Children, Help The Aged, Christian Aid, British Red Cross and Oxfam. It is believed that they are probably \u201cnot impressed at the inhumanity\u201d of the BBC\u2019s decision.<\/span><\/p>\n

The BBC have been roundly criticised for many years for their bias and lack of criticism of their controllers, the British Government, who removed the top brass of the BBC under Thatcher\u2019s conservative government during the 1980\u2019s, accusing it of \u2018liberal bias\u2019, better known as \u2018not following government propaganda\u2019.<\/span>

Recently it was noted that callers to BBC Radio and also posters on the BBC website\u2019s \u2018Have Your Say\u2019 were not allowed their say<\/em> as most pro-Palestinian posts and calls were screened or moderated out.<\/span>

The BBC have agreed to continue to use license payers fees to increase CEO\u2019s wages, pay large sums of money for talentless presenters with speech impediments, while making sure that their drama output, like the recent \u201cLittle Dorrit\u201d and the recent remake of \u201cSurvivors\u201d continue to be under-funded, badly produced and contain no real acting ability or reason for existence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Disasters Emergency Commission<\/strong> really does need your help<\/em> to get aid to the suffering civilians of the <\/span>Gaza<\/span> strip, so I would beg<\/em> you to go to their website and donate whatever you can<\/em> to help your fellow human beings<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
