Justin Sink<\/strong> White House press secretary Jay Carney on Friday sidestepped a question about whether the Obama administration was preparing for the possible public reaction to the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.<\/p>\n \u201cTo suggest our views on \u2013 or anyone\u2019s views here, whether it\u2019s the president\u2019s or anyone else\u2019s views here \u2013 on an ongoing trial that\u2019s about to go to jury, I think would be a mistake,\u201d Carney said. \u201cAnd potential outcomes and what might happen in an outcome, this is, you know, a jury in Florida in the United States that\u2019s fulfilling its function \u2013 I mean, a trial and a jury \u2013and we\u2019ll obviously you know, be made aware of the results of that when they happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Law enforcement officials in Florida have urged restraint ahead of the verdict, with the Broward County Sheriff\u2019s Office releasing two public service announcements urging trial-watchers to \u201craise their voice, not their hands\u201d if they are displeased with the verdict.<\/p>\n Members of the family of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed during a confrontation with Zimmerman, have also pleaded for peace.<\/p>\n
