Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi says seven Slovak citizens have been arrested for violating the Islamic Republic\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s law.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cThese individuals had come to the Islamic Republic of Iran as tourists, but their actions and behavior was unconventional, and have been arrested by law enforcement officials for violating our country\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s law,\u201d Araqchi said on Sunday.\n<\/p>\n
He added that the seven Slovaks were also in possession of \u00c5\u201cunconventional equipment.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\u201dInvestigations about these people are underway and, of course, we have informed the Slovak government of this issue and acted in accordance with international regulations and the Vienna Convention,\u201d the Iranian spokesperson pointed out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
On Saturday, Chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said, \u00c5\u201cThe detained Slovak citizens violated Iran\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s domestic law and were present in sensitive areas; therefore, they were arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n
Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry said on June 28 that a number of the country\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s citizens had been detained in Iran.\n<\/p>\n
\u00c5\u201cOur diplomats in Tehran are in touch with the arrested citizens and the Iranian authorities,\u201d Foreign Ministry spokesman, Boris Gandel said.\n<\/p>\n
