To begin with, an NSA analyst<br \/>\n  <i>&#8220;tasks&#8221;<\/i> PRISM to gather information about a surveillance<br \/>\n  target. The system then temporarily freezes that request<br \/>\n  and automatically ask for an approval from a supervisor. If<br \/>\n  the superior decides that the request possesses a <i>&#8220;reasonable<br \/>\n  belief&#8221;<\/i> of perceived threat, then PRISM goes to work.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NSA slide published by the Washington Post\" src=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/files\/news\/1f\/99\/b0\/00\/prism-slide-6.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  In the surveillance process, NSA often obtains its live data from<br \/>\n  the FBI that retrieves matching information, using government<br \/>\n  equipment from companies such as Google, Microsoft and Yahoo.\n  <\/p>\n<p>With the participation of those companies, PRISM \u2014 and therefore<br \/>\n  Washington intelligence workers \u2014 &#8220;incidentally&#8221; have access to<br \/>\n  the bulk of Americans\u2019 email, video and voice chat, videos,<br \/>\n  photos, voice-over-IP (Skype) chats, file transfers and social<br \/>\n  networking details.\n  <\/p>\n<p>For stored data, the FBI deploys its own databases that review<br \/>\n  the selects request, before it is forwarded to the NSA.<br \/>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NSA slide published by the Washington Post\" src=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/files\/news\/1f\/99\/b0\/00\/prism-slide-7.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  The information is then analyzed and processed by a system that<br \/>\n  can interpret voice, text, video and &#8220;<i>digital network<br \/>\n  information.\u201d<\/i>\n  <\/p>\n<p>The FBI interceptions from private firms are also being channeled<br \/>\n  to more <i>&#8220;customers&#8221;<\/i> at the NSA, CIA or FBI. Each target is<br \/>\n  then assigned a PRISM case notation which reflects the<br \/>\n  availability of real-time surveillance as well as stored data.<br \/>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NSA slide published by the Washington Post\" src=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/files\/news\/1f\/99\/b0\/00\/prism-slide-8.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  Depending on the access to private firm\u2019s information, the NSA<br \/>\n  begins to monitor live notifications of the target\u2019s mobile<br \/>\n  logs. On the April 5 slide some 117,675 users were targeted in<br \/>\n  PRISM database.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NSA slide published by the Washington Post\" src=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/files\/news\/1f\/99\/b0\/00\/prism-slide-9.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n  Saturday\u2019s revelations expand the slides that were revealed<br \/>\n  earlier in June, revealing the existence of the PRISM program,<br \/>\n  which mines data from the nine leading US Internet companies.<br \/>\n  Earlier information also revealed the world\u2019s electronic<br \/>\n  communications flow and Washington\u2019s control over providers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The NSA venture does not require individual warrants.
