Sgt. Joe Biggs says journalist would never have driven at high speed<\/p>\n
Paul Joseph Watson<\/strong> A friend of Michael Hastings told Fox News today that the Rolling Stone journalist was working on the \u201cthe biggest story yet\u201d about the CIA before his suspicious death and that Hastings drove \u201clike a grandma,\u201d making it extremely out of character for him to be speeding in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n Sgt. Joe Biggs told Fox News\u2019 Megyn Kelly that \u201csomething didn\u2019t feel right\u201d after Hastings sent a panicked email saying the authorities were on his tail, adding that the story of him driving at high speed in the early hours of the morning was completely out of character.<\/p>\n \u201cHis friends and family that know him, everyone says he drives like a grandma, so that right there doesn\u2019t seem like something he\u2019d be doing, there\u2019s no way that he\u2019d be acting erratic like that and driving out of control,\u201d said Biggs, adding that \u201cthings don\u2019t add up, there\u2019s a lot of questions that need to be answered.\u201d<\/p>\n Biggs said he had contacted Mercedes asking them if it was normal for their cars to \u201cblow up to that extent\u201d and for the engine to fly out 100 feet from the site of the crash.<\/p>\n Biggs also confirmed that Hastings was working on a story about the CIA and that it was \u201cgoing to be the biggest story yet.\u201d<\/p>\n As we reported yesterday<\/a>, questions surrounding the death of Hastings are not only the domain of conspiracy theorists. Former counter-terror czar under two different presidents Richard Clarke told the Huffington Post that the fatal crash of Hastings\u2019 Mercedes C250 Coupe was \u201cconsistent with a car cyber attack.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo if there were a cyber attack on the car \u2013 and I\u2019m not saying there was,\u201d he said, adding \u201cI think whoever did it would probably get away with it,\u201d and that \u201cintelligence agencies for major powers\u201d have such capabilities.<\/p>\n Clarke\u2019s speculation that Hastings\u2019 vehicle could have been remotely hijacked is echoed by Salon.com\u2019s Andrew Leonard, who cites two studies by researchers at the University of Washington and the University of California, San Diego,\u00a0\u201cExperimental Security Analysis of a Modern Vehicle,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and\u201cComprehensive Experimental Analyses of Automotive Attack Surfaces.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The studies detail how \u201cit is a relatively trivial exercise to access the computer systems of a modern car and take control away from the driver.\u201d<\/p>\n Questions about the circumstances behind Hastings\u2019 death have persisted because he made a number of enemies in positions of power.<\/p>\n After Wikileaks reported that Hastings had contacted them in the hours before his death complaining about being under investigation by the FBI, the federal agency denied the claim.<\/p>\n According to Hastings\u2019 colleague Cenk Uygur, the writer was, \u201cincredibly tense and very worried, and was concerned that the government was looking in on his material,\u201d and also a \u201cnervous wreck\u201d in response to the surveillance of journalists revealed by the AP phone tapping scandal and the NSA PRISM scandal.<\/p>\n BuzzFeed editor Ben Smith added that Hastings had told friends and family \u201che was concerned that he was under investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n Another close friend who wishes to remain anonymous said that Hastings was \u201cvery paranoid that he was being watched by the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n It subsequently emerged that Hastings\u00a0had written a panicked email<\/a>\u00a0shortly before his death telling his friends and colleagues that he was going into hiding to escape the attention of the authorities.<\/p>\n \u201cHey \u2013 the feds are interviewing my \u201cclose friends and associates,\u201d the message said. \u201cAlso: I\u2019m onto a big story, and need to go off the [radar] for a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n *********************<\/p>\n Paul Joseph Watson is the editor and writer for\u00a0Infowars.com<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Prison Planet.com<\/a>.
