{"id":399207,"date":"2019-03-12T22:59:16","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T21:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/prison-planet-com-tommy-robinson-im-going-to-stand-for-parliament\/"},"modified":"2019-03-12T22:59:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T21:59:16","slug":"prison-planet-com-tommy-robinson-im-going-to-stand-for-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/prison-planet-com-tommy-robinson-im-going-to-stand-for-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Prison Planet.com \u00bb Tommy Robinson \u2013 \u2018I\u2019m Going to Stand for Parliament\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>      <!-- START CONTENT --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/03\/12\/tommy-robinson-may-run-for-parliament\/\"><strong>Breitbart<\/strong><\/a><br \/>March 12, 2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tommy Robinson has<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/the-delingpod-the-james-delingpole-podcast\/id1449753062?mt=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\"> announced<\/a> that he wants to stand for parliament \u2014 either in Brussels, as an MEP, if Brexit fails, or in Westminster.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anyone in this country wants to really rock the boat put me in there [Parliament] because I won\u2019t lie and I won\u2019t hold back!\u201d he told me <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/delingpole.podbean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">when we met this month.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But that was before last Thursday\u2019s announcement by Attorney-General Geoffrey Cox that it is \u201cin the public interest\u201d to bring further proceedings against Robinson for contempt of court.<\/p>\n<p>As the <em>Guardian<\/em>\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2019\/mar\/07\/tommy-robinson-to-face-fresh-contempt-of-court-proceedings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">reports:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Robinson was jailed for 13 months for contempt of court in May last year after he allegedly filmed people involved in the criminal trial of four men who were later convicted of gang-raping a teenage girl.<\/p>\n<p>But a contempt finding was quashed by the court of appeal in August and he was freed on bail pending new proceedings at the Old Bailey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If convicted, Robinson could be sent to prison once more \u2014 putting paid, at least temporarily, to his political ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>There is no bar to standing for election as an MP once you are released from prison.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson told me:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf Brexit\u2019s delayed \u2014 as I think it will be \u2014 I\u2019ll stand as an MEP.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But not for Westminster, surely?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOh I think I would. I\u2019d need to have that discussion with UKIP. I\u2019d stand near a Northern town, plagued with Islam.
