President Trump continues to request \u201cmore\u201d foreign workers enter the United States to take American jobs that would otherwise go to sidelined U.S. workers as the southern border is overrun with record levels of illegal immigration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For a month, Trump has made requesting more legal immigration to the country \u2014 beyond the already historically record\u00a0levels<\/a> of more than 1.2 million new legal immigrants a year \u2014 part of his stump speech.<\/p>\n

The push for more legal immigration was first made in off-the-cuff comments at his State of the Union address, where he said he wanted<\/a>\u00a0to admit \u201cthe largest numbers ever\u201d of legal immigrants to the country.<\/p>\n

For the fourth time<\/a> in a month, during a roundtable with business executives and U.S. job outsourcers like Apple CEO Tim Cook and IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, Trump said<\/a>, again, he wanted to increase legal immigration levels to benefit the profits of corporations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want a lot of people coming in \u2026\u00a0We want to have the companies grow, and the only way they\u2019re going to grow is if we give them the workers, and the only way we\u2019re going to have the workers is to do exactly what we\u2019re doing,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

The comments are a direct rebuke of the president\u2019s\u00a0commitments in\u00a02015<\/a>,\u00a02016<\/a>, and\u00a02017<\/a>, where he vowed to reduce overall legal immigration levels\u00a0to boost the wages of U.S. workers and reduce the displacement of America\u2019s working and middle class.<\/p>\n
