Wayne referred to <em>\u201chealthy, lusty sex\u201d<\/em> between a man and a woman as <em>\u201cwonderful,\u201d<\/em> but called homosexuality <em>\u201cperverted,\u201d<\/em> dismissing the Oscar-winning \u2018Midnight Cowboy\u2019 as <em>\u201ca love story about two f*gs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Duke\u2019 then slammed calls for reparations for Native Americans, saying <em>\u201cthey should pay as much for Alcatraz as we paid them Manhattan.\u201d<\/em> Wayne blasted Hollywood for its <em>\u201ctokenism\u201d<\/em> and told Playboy that <em>\u201cwe can\u2019t all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to the point of responsibility,\u201d<\/em> Wayne stated. <em>\u201cI don\u2019t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgement to irresponsible people.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Predictably, Wayne\u2019s most definitely un-woke worldview ruffled some feathers on Twitter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I was a 16 in 1971. I&#8217;ve known John Wayne was a scmuck and a bigot since he started doing interviews. In the years since, parts of the interview have popped up to cause controversy. When Republican state Assemblyman Matthew Harper tried to have the actor\u2019s birthday (May 26) commemorated in California as \u2018John Wayne Day\u2019 in 2016, a Democratic assemblyman argued against it, reading Wayne\u2019s \u2018white supremacy\u2019 quote to the assembly floor.<\/p>\n<p>The interview did the rounds again that same year, when Wayne\u2019s daughter Aissa endorsed then-candidate Donald Trump for president.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Like this story?
