Proponents of a \u201cGreen New Deal\u201d that advocates \u201cmassive government intervention\u201d to stop \u201cman-made climate change\u201d are ignoring one significant fact: the government is by far the largest polluter in the world.<\/p>\n

Which makes sense because who\u2019s holding the government accountable? Does the government fear government fines for violations? In reality, the government typically avoids paying out pollution claims by claiming \u201csovereign immunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet the proposed \u201cGreen New Deal\u201d relies on \u201cgovernment intervention\u201d to work. According to Grabien<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she has no qualms about acknowledging a so-called \u201cGreen New Deal\u201d will mean unprecedented governmental intrusion into the private sector. Appearing on NPR, she was asked if she\u2019s prepared to tell Americans outright that her plans involve \u201cmassive government intervention.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, congresswoman, one reason that people are politically conservative are skeptical of efforts to combat climate change is that it sounds to them like it requires massive government intervention, which they just don\u2019t like,\u201d Steve Inskeep asked. \u201cAre you prepared to put on that table that, \u2018Yes actually they\u2019re right, what this requires is massive government intervention\u2019?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt does, it does, yeah, I have no problem saying that,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez quickly replied. \u201cWhy? Because we have tried their approach for 40 years. For 40 years we have tried to let the private sector take care of this. They said, \u2018We got this, we can do this, the forces of the market are going to force us to innovate.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
