TV presenter Piers Morgan clashed live on-air with a Scottish politician who called British World War II Prime Minister Winston Churchill a \u201cwhite supremacist mass murderer\u201d on social media on the anniversary of his death.<\/p>\n
Morgan had invited Ross Greer, who he labeled a \u201cthick ginger turd\u201d<\/em> on Twitter, onto his Good Morning Britain show. It followed a war of words between the pair, which was triggered by the Green Party MSP\u2019s controversial characterization of Churchill, who most Brits see as a war hero.<\/p>\n Greer defended his comments, which he said reflected a \u201crounded view of history.\u201d<\/em> Morgan, however, interjected to accuse the politician of being a \u201cChurchill hater,\u201d<\/em> prompting a volley of harsh words between the two men.<\/p>\n The Scottish politician called Morgan a \u201csnowflake\u201d<\/em> for the way he was conducting the interview. The TV host responded by claiming that Churchill had \u201cdragged the country from the abyss,\u201d<\/em> which Greer insisted was a \u201cwildly ahistorical\u201d<\/em> viewpoint, adding that it was time to consider other perspectives.<\/p>\n Morgan\u2019s co-host, Susanna Reid, sided with her colleague, arguing that everyone celebrates Churchill as a hero. Greer firmly refuted this assumption, claiming that many people in parts of Britain, as well as India, Ireland and Kenya have no love for the former PM.<\/p>\n Greer argued: \u201cWhen a mass famine broke out in India, for which he [Churchill] was significantly to blame, the Bengal famine, he said it was their own fault because they bred like rabbits.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s not the first time Morgan has rowed over the British war icon. In October 2018, he clashed with Professor Kehinde Andrews over his claim that Churchill was an \u201cimperialist racist.\u201d<\/p>\n Morgan responded by saying that he wouldn\u2019t be made to feel ashamed of his country; claiming that \u201cif it hadn\u2019t been for Winston Churchill\u2026 I think we probably wouldn\u2019t have had the stomach to take on Hitler.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Think your friends would be interested?
