In some bad news for Trump, more Americans also pinned the blame for the standoff on him than on congressional Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apnews.com\/dad8086738a64b4ba78c0404d5d04e79\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">latest poll<\/a>, released on Thursday by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that 60 percent of Americans said Trump bore a<em> \u201cgreat deal\u201d<\/em> of responsibility for the shutdown \u2014 and that the impasse has cut into his overall approval rating, which was at 34 percent, down from 40 percent in December.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"read-more-big\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/449399-porn-tax-border-wall-arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n    <span class=\"read-more-big__container\"><br \/>\n        <span class=\"read-more-big__content\"><br \/>\n            <span class=\"read-more-big__subtitle\">Also on rt.com<\/span><br \/>\n            <span class=\"read-more-big__title\">Build the wall, porn will pay for it? Only 28 percent said the wall was worth the shutdown and 94 percent said the current situation was causing either<em> \u201csome problems\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cserious problems\u201d<\/em> for the country.<\/p>\n<p>Along party lines, however, things are more split, with both sides refusing to give in. Among Republicans, 65 percent said Trump should refuse any spending bill unless it includes funding for the wall, while 69 percent of Democrats said funding should continue to be refused.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-cards=\"hidden\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump&#8217;s approval rating has dropped to 36% in a new CBS poll. 59% disapprove.<\/p>\n<p>71% of Americans say the wall is not worth the shutdown.<br \/>Only 28% say the wall is worth it.<\/p>\n<p>47% say Pelosi is handling negotiations better than Trump.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AFW9uvXjVz\">https:\/\/t.co\/AFW9uvXjVz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kylegriffin1\/status\/1088058772285784067?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 23, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/center><\/div>\n<p>In more bad news for Trump, the CBS poll also found that overall House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is seen as doing a better job on negotiations than Trump, with 47 percent saying she was handling the situation better, while 35 percent felt Trump was doing a better job.<\/p>\n<p>In a sign, however, that Americans overall are willing to support any kind of agreement to get the government fully running again, 66 percent said Trump should agree to a bill with no wall funding and 52 percent overall said that Democrats should agree to a deal which included wall funding.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, a Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/fox-news-poll-voters-see-shutdown-as-bigger-problem-than-border-situation\">poll showed<\/a> that 75 percent of people felt the shutdown was an <em>\u201cemergency\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cmajor problem\u201d<\/em> facing the country \u2014 higher than the 59 percent who said the border was a major issue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bad numbers for Trump in the Fox poll. It also found that 43 percent support the wall (up from 39 percent in September) and 51 percent oppose it, steady since September.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has demanded $5.7 billion in funding for the wall, which has been steadfastly opposed by Democrats, leading to the partial shutdown, which has reached its 34th day.
