Politicized and radical elements are trying to\u00a0turn this movement into\u00a0an instrument. They want to\u00a0overthrow the government,\u201d Griveaux said in\u00a0an interview with\u00a0Le Parisien newspaper, asked about\u00a0whether the protesters had any particular goal staging action near\u00a0the Elysee Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesman said that French intelligence officers were aware of\u00a0the possible illegal spread of\u00a0firearms during\u00a0protests, and advised \u201creal demonstrators\u201d to\u00a0refrain from\u00a0participating in\u00a0further rallies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"marker-quote1\">\u201cWe know that firearms may be distributed\u2026 Real \u2018yellow vests\u2019 cannot serve as\u00a0human shields. Those present at\u00a0these protests do not allow the police to\u00a0detain anyone. Therefore, we call on\u00a0everyone to\u00a0be responsible. This is my advice,\u201d Griveaux said.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged broadcasters to\u00a0cover the events in\u00a0such a way that the positions of\u00a0law enforcement officers were not disclosed.The so-called yellow vest protests, named after\u00a0the reflective vests all French drivers are required to\u00a0keep in\u00a0their cars, have been ongoing in\u00a0France since\u00a0November 17. Saturday\u2019s \u201cyellow vest\u201d rally in\u00a0Paris was accompanied by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sputniknews.com\/analysis\/201812051070395400-French-Tone-Deaf-Measures-Yellow-Vests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">violent clashes between\u00a0protesters and police,<\/a>\u00a0rioting, burning cars, and destroyed stores and banks. Four people were killed and hundreds were injured during\u00a0the protests. A new demonstration was called for\u00a0December 8.<\/p>\n<p>Following these acts of\u00a0violence and clashes, authorities announced they would close the Eiffel Tower on\u00a0the day of\u00a0the upcoming December 8 demostration over\u00a0safety reasons.
