Elections are a challenging time for corporate media. And as FAIR points out in numerous posts and CounterSpin<\/strong> interviews recently\u2014they fail to meet this challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n TV networks raked in hundreds of millions of dollars from campaign advertising\u2014ones often filled with false or <\/span>incendiary<\/span> claims that overwhelm any feeble \u201cfactchecks\u201d broadcasters offer in response. <\/span><\/p>\n Blatant deceptions uttered by candidates on the campaign trail go unchallenged\u2014as if checking <\/span>the truth of politicians weren\u2019t central to the definition of journalism. Pundits chattered and blathered endlessly about the horserace, the tweets and the insults\u2014and didn\u2019t seem to understand the media\u2019s critical importance for an informed citizenry.<\/span><\/p>\n FAIR doesn\u2019t have corporate sponsors.
