A black-and-white picture of Tory Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg, standing side-by-side with his nanny in a room of what could be a \u2018haunted house,\u2019 has been described by social media users as \u201csomething out of a Hammer Horror film.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chilling image, thought to have been taken in 2000, was tweeted by @Tuckleton as part of his #Tuesdaythoughts \u2013 claiming that the picture of the posh, Eton-educated Rees-Mogg with his family\u2019s nanny of 52 years, Veronica Crook, was \u201cthe stuff of nightmares.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Social media has been quick to comment on the picture\u2019s haunting composition with one Twitter user suggesting it would provide the perfect front cover for a Halloween card, and another arguing that it was like a poster for the classic horror film \u2018Psycho.\u2019 Comparisons to the freaky 1960s American sitcom, \u2018The Munsters,\u2019 were also made.<\/p>\n

Crook, 75, was initially hired by Rees-Mogg\u2019s parents in 1965, after the birth of their second daughter Charlotte, to take care of his sisters before he was born four years later in 1969. She once famously assisted the prominent backbencher\u2019s failed 1997 general election campaign bid in Central Fife, Scotland.<\/p>\n

The relationship between the two has been hilariously mocked by British actor and comedian Tracey Ullman on her sketch show for the BBC.<\/p>\n

Rees-Mogg says of Crook: \u201cShe\u2019s the most remarkable woman and, as you can imagine, incredibly good with children \u2013 but she might say it\u2019s jolly hard work.\u201d<\/em> Crook has described Rees-Mogg\u2019s behavior during his younger days, as \u201cperfect \u2013 or for most of the time perfect,\u201d<\/em> the Daily Mail reports. \u201cHe wasn\u2019t really naughty, he was a one-off,\u201d<\/em> she said in 2015.<\/p>\n
