Seven Syrians and one German citizen have been arrested; they are suspected of raping an 18-year-old student. The men have been on the police radar long before the arrest for other alleged wrongdoings, which drew criticism on the authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Up to\u00a02,000 demonstrators flooded the streets of\u00a0the university city of\u00a0Freiburg in\u00a0southern Germany following\u00a0a gang rape, which was allegedly committed by\u00a0migrants from\u00a0Syria as\u00a0well as\u00a0one German citizen.\u00a0 The right-wing Alternative for\u00a0Germany party brought around\u00a0500 people to protest<\/a> the crimes committed by\u00a0refugees and Chancellor Angela Merkel\u2019s migration policy, repeating demands for\u00a0stricter migrant control following\u00a0the arrest of\u00a0the suspects.<\/p>\n
