Now it\u2019s Texas Christian University that\u2019s gone insane.<\/p>\n

The other day, comedian and podcaster Steven Crowder showed up on the TCU campus, put up a sign reading\u00a0\u201c\u2018RAPE CULTURE\u2019 IS A MYTH: CHANGE MY MIND,\u201d and sat down to talk to passersby.<\/p>\n

The TCU administration went berserk.<\/p>\n

Now look: Crowder is obviously correct that \u201crape culture\u201d is a myth.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>\u201dRape culture,\u201d says Wikipedia,\u00a0\u201cis a\u00a0sociological\u00a0concept for a setting in which\u00a0rape\u00a0is pervasive and\u00a0normalized\u00a0due to societal attitudes about\u00a0gender\u00a0and\u00a0sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n

To believe in \u201crape culture\u201d is to\u00a0believe that our society considers rape \u201cnormal.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty sure most people would consider that claim insane.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, it was people on the left \u2014 the very people who would complain about \u201crape culture\u201d today \u2014 who abolished capital punishment for rapists of adult women in 1977, and for rapists of children in 2008.<\/p>\n

So in other words, it was the toughest defenders of \u201cthe patriarchy\u201d who wanted to keep rape a capital crime, and it was the left\u00a0who wanted to soften the punishment.<\/p>\n

Go make sense of that.<\/p>\n
