Nate Silver, whose polling firm FiveThirtyEight<\/a> (owned by ABC News)\u00a0called the 2016 election in Hillary Clinton\u2019s favor with\u00a071.4%<\/a>\u00a0chance of winning, is at it again \u2013 this time predicting that Democrats have a\u00a075% chance of retaking the House of Representatives\u00a0<\/i>in the midterm elections.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes,\u00a0this<\/em>\u00a0Nate Silver \u2013\u00a0whose November 8 prediction was flat wrong \u2013 even after he penned a mea-culpa<\/a> following the 2016 primaries entitled \u201cHow I Acted Like A Pundit And Screwed Up On Donald Trump\u201d:<\/p>\n

But with some time to reflect on the problem, I also wonder if there\u2019s been too much #datajournalist self-flagellation. Trump is one of the most astonishing stories in American political history. -Nate Silver<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

FiveThirtyEight says there is a 10 percent chance that Democrats gain fewer than 14 seats and a 10 percent chance of a big wave that would see them gain more than 58 seats.<\/p>\n

The website goes on to project the final tally will be 230 House seats for Democrats and 205 for Republicans<\/strong>. Democrats currently hold 193 seats to Republicans\u2019 236 seats, in addition to six vacancies. FiveThirtyEight plans to update the estimates daily. \u2013The Hill<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
