Trump then went on to say that Washington was \u201cextremely tough on Russia\u201d<\/em> under his rule. Read more<\/p>\n Trump particularly boasted that, following the incident in Salisbury that involved the former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, the US expelled a \u201cfar greater number\u201d of the Russian diplomats \u201cthan anybody.\u201d<\/em>\u201cWe expelled \u2026 60 people and Germany [expelled] three,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have been really very strong on Russia,\u201d<\/em> Trump added as he told the journalists that his administration \u201cleft NATO with more money, with more unity, with more spirit than NATO probably has ever had.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Trump also once again denied having any \u201crelationship\u201d<\/em> with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that the two leaders met \u201ctwo and a half times.\u201d<\/em> However, he then suddenly changed his tone and said that \u201cif we could develop a relationship, it would be good for Russia and good for us, good for everybody.\u201d<\/em> \u201cIf we get along with China and Russia, that will be a good thing, not a bad thing,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n The US president\u2019s remarks came just days before his meeting with the Russian leader, which is scheduled to take place in Helsinki on July 16.
