Francois Hollande didn\u2019t expect such vast public outcry when he signed the same-sex marriage law in order to satisfy the small lobby, which sponsored his campaign for French presidency, Bruno Vercken from La Manif Pour Tous movement told RT.<\/p>\n

Central Paris has witnessed violence on its streets over the
\nweekend, a mass rally in protest at laws allowing same-sex marriage
\nturned into clashes.<\/p>\n

Police cracked down on far-right activists who had joined the
\ndemonstration, arresting 350 people for refusing to disperse or
\noccupying private property.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bruno Vercken, regional coordinator of the anti-gay marriage
\nmovement that took part in protests on Sunday, says that so many
\nFrenchmen are speaking out against the same-sex marriage and
\nadoption law because it violates the rights of the
\nchildren.<\/p>\n

RT:<\/b> Did the police go too far in the way they dealt
\nwith your protest?<\/i><\/p>\n

Bruno Vercken:<\/b> Yes, indeed. If you look at the numbers
\nsince last November several millions of people have gone into
\nstreet to protest and you won\u2019t be able to provide any picture nor
\nany film of any broken glass, any burned car, and any violence
\nduring the protests themselves. At the same time, many people have
\nbeen arrested. Several hundred people have been arrested by the
\npolice just because they were wearing suits with this logo there
\n[shows the logo of the Anti-Gay Marriage Movement]. No longer than
\nlast Saturday, people were arrested in Paris because there were two
\nof them walking together. And, at the same time, many people and no
\nlater than two weeks ago when Paris Saint-Germain celebrated this
\ntitle in the soccer league in France, many people ruined some shops
\nand they were not arrested.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"Protesters<\/p>\n

RT:<\/b> What are the reasons for the police behaving in
\nthis manner towards the same-sex marriage protestors?<\/i><\/p>\n

BV<\/span>:<\/span><\/b> The government is extremely
\nsurprised and annoyed by the breadth and the length, the duration
\nof the movement. Francois Hollande had not anticipated that
\nallowing same-sex marriage and adoption would create such a concern
\nabout so many people in France. He did this promise to satisfy a
\nsmall lobby, particularly active lobby, who financed his
\npresidential campaign. He didn\u2019t anticipate that same-sex marriage
\nwas meaning in France adoption and plenary adoption \u2014 which
\nimmediately triggers the risk of losing the biological link between
\nthe kid and his parents. And in France this is very unique. And
\npeople are protesting against that to defend the right of
\nchildren.\u00a0<\/p>\n

RT:<\/b> Was this all about your objection to gay-marriage,
\nor was it hijacked by groups with other agendas?<\/i><\/p>\n

BV:<\/b><\/span> Really not, I\u2019m personally a member of a
\npolitical party in France, and the takeover of this movement by any
\npolitical party is clearly not at stake. Many of these people are,
\nby the way, from left or from right so it transcends the classical
\nleft-right boundaries.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

RT:<\/b> France is now the ninth European country to
\nlegalise gay marriage. Why can’t you move with the times?
\n\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

BV:<\/b> You could put nine ladies together you wouldn\u2019t be
\nable to create a baby even in one month. And I think people protest
\nhere because they\u2026 It\u2019s not a matter of being modern, going along
\nwith times. It\u2019s really against, at one point in time, to say:
\nWho\u2019s at stake there? Have we thought, have we considered the right
\nof the weakest person there – who\u2019s the kid? And, you know, when a
\nkid has lost his parents, probably, his dearest wish is to be
\nadopted by a man and a woman. You, me are the sons of a man and a
\nwoman and in this law there\u2019s a deep lie \u2014 imbedded in the law \u2014 is
\nto make people believe in the future that they can be born from two
\nmen or two women. And this is extremely dangerous and, by the way,
\nwe\u2019ll open soon the rights to medically adopted procreation and
\nsurrogate mothers, which people in France are extremely worried
\nabout and are extremely against.<\/p>\n
