Hep C drugs cost <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pharmacytimes.com\/resource-centers\/hepatitisc\/will-hepatitis-c-virus-medicaton-costs-drop-in-the-years-ahead\">$95,000\u00a0<\/a>for a course of treatment. The immune drug, Actimmune, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/05\/11\/health\/most-expensive-prescription-drugs\/index.html\">costs\u00a0<\/a>$52,321.80 <em>a month<\/em>. The parasite drug Daraprim costs $45,000 a month. And the gallstone drug Chenodal costs $42,570 a month.<\/p>\n<p>But this week in his long-awaited speech, Trump blamed <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/5275168\/trump-plan-lower-drug-prices\/\"><em>foreign countries<\/em><\/a> for high drug prices in the US and reversed his campaign pledge to use Medicare\u2019s buying power to negotiate lower drug prices. Pharma stock prices rose; the shilling paid off.<\/p>\n<p>Pharma has two lobbyists for every member of Congress. It spends more on lobbying than tobacco, oil and defense contractors combined. It parades patients before public and consumer panels to \u201cprovide media outlets a human face to attach to a cause when insurers balk at reimbursing patients for new prescription medications,\u201d writes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intrepidreport.com\/archives\/8897\">Melissa Healy<\/a> of the Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n<p>And that is not enough for Pharma. Companies also try to incorporate in the UK, Ireland and other overseas locations to dodge the US taxes that fund them such as Medicare. They already manufacture and test drugs overseas because the labor is cheap.<\/p>\n<p>The US government is captured. Pharma operatives head both Health and Human Services and the FDA.
