Kanye West is back on Twitter and he\u2019s getting political, dispensing thoughts and musings on Black Lives Matter, freedom of thought and capitalism, and sparking some controversial reactions.<\/p>\n
The rapper had taken a one-year hiatus from Twitter for unknown reasons, but it looks like he now has lots to say. Here are the most interesting snippets of Kanye\u2019s thoughts.<\/p>\n
This tweet immediately stirred controversy. Candace Owens is a black activist known for her opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement. She is the communications director for the Trump administration-linked Turning Point USA and specializes in \u201curban engagement,\u201d<\/em> delivering right-wing messages to college campuses across America.<\/p>\n I love the way Candace Owens thinks<\/p>\n \u2014 KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 21, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n West followed up his tweet about Owens with what appear to be a series of thoughts on how black Americans see themselves as \u201cvictims\u201d<\/em>. Follow what you feel.<\/p>\n \u2014 KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 18, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n In a series of tweets about how some people have the ability to \u201cshift consciousness\u201d<\/em> while others don\u2019t, West vented his frustration with \u201chard-core capitalists\u201d<\/em> who are \u201ccreating the illusion that the value of money is worth more than the value of time and friends.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Presumably, the advice about not following crowds and hard-core capitalism being bad will be suspended when West releases his new \u201cYeezy\u201d shoes, or drops a new album.<\/p>\n In what could easily become the lyrics of a new song, West tweeted about how he values truth and is not afraid of controversy. \u201cTruth is my goal. I’m in the future. West has been getting political elsewhere, too. In an conversation with Hot 97 radio host Ebro Darden, West reportedly said he loved President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n But the rapper has had a tumultuous relationship with the president. West famously met with the then president-elect at Trump Tower in New York in 2016 to \u201cdiscuss multicultural issues\u201d<\/em> \u2014 but later deleted his pro-Trump tweets, after the president\u2019s so-called \u2018Muslim ban\u2019 was introduced.<\/p>\n West\u2019s relationship with former president Barack Obama was also the subject of controversy. Following West\u2019s infamous interruption of Taylor Swift\u2019s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Obama called West a \u201cjackass\u201d<\/a> in a leaked tape from a CNBC interview.<\/p>\n In 2015, West boasted that Obama had called him at home \u2014 a claim that the former president denied<\/a>. “I don’t think I’ve got his home number,\u201d<\/em> Obama said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
