Secretary of State says nothing about CIA\u2019s foreign mercenaries, including al-Qaeda <\/p>\n
Kurt Nimmo<\/strong> During a meeting with Jordan\u2019s King Abdullah II in Amman, Secretary of State John Kerry said Hezbollah is fighting alongside al-Assad\u2019s soldiers in Syria with Iranian support, according to Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n On Tuesday, ahead of Kerry \u2018s visit, a senior State Department official said the \u201cSyrian Government is welcoming Iranian help and Hezbollah help.\u201d<\/p>\n The unnamed official also said the U.S. knows Iran and Hezbollah cooperate in a number of countries, \u201cnot just in Syria. And so it is not a surprise that Iran would be there with Hezbollah on the ground. We do have consistent reports of Hezbollah fighters on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n The official also said the United States government has reports \u201cfrom several of the commanders that Hezbollah fighters are directly engaged in fighting literally on the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n The State Department declarations about Hezbollah fighters and Iranian assistance ignores the fact that the CIA is arming and supporting<\/a> foreign mercenaries in Syria. In addition to CIA sponsored mercenaries, the presence of British and Qatari troops<\/a> have been reported in Syria. \u201cThere is ample evidence that this armed insurgency is directly supported by the US and NATO. There is also evidence that these armed groups are responsible for killing civilians and carrying out terrorist acts,\u201d Michel Chossudovsky noted last February.<\/p>\n In April, Russia\u2019s Federal Drug Control Service Director Viktor Ivanov<\/a> said around 20,000 foreign mercenaries<\/a> financed by Afghan drug trafficking are attempting to overthrow the al-Assad regime in Syria.<\/p>\n \u201cTransnational organized crime groups can ensure an inflow of a huge number of criminals and mercenaries from certain countries to any part of the world with proceeds from heroin sales,\u201d Ivanov told the Ria Novosti news service.<\/p>\n Afghanistan\u2019s drug trade \u201cis funding insurgency, international terrorism and wider destabilization,\u201d United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon<\/a> said in 2011. In 2009, we reported<\/a> that the brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, a suspected kingpin of the country\u2019s booming opium trade, had been on the CIA payroll for years prior to his assassination<\/a>. <\/p>\n During the CIA\u2019s successful effort to defeat the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, the agency institutionalized drug production. \u201cIn order to augment their funds, rebel chieftains began to grow poppies, refine opium into heroin, and sell the drug in the U.S. and Europe,\u201d Robert Friedman<\/a> wrote in the early 1990s.<\/p>\n Ivanov\u2019s statement coincided with remarks by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich<\/a>. \u201cSyria\u2019s transformation into a center of attraction for international terrorists is becoming an alarming reality,\u201d he told the Interfax news agency.<\/p>\n \u201cField reports from the ground inside Syria point towards a difficult and complex situation, with the country teeming with foreign mercenaries, including westerners, with outside forces using Saudi, Turkey and Qatar as proxies to support minority groups and destabilize the status quo,\u201d Russia\u2019s Pravda<\/a> reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Since the beginning of the effort to overthrow al-Assad and install a more complaisant government in Syria, the United States, the UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, and Turkey have \u201csent billions of dollars and thousands of tons of weapons into Syria along side known-terrorists from Libya<\/a>, Chechnya, neighboring Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq,\u201d writes Tony Cartalucci<\/a>.<\/p>\n Finally, al-Qaeda in Iraq has taken over the foreign financed and CIA-supported effort to depose al-Assad. \u201cThe most feared and effective rebel group battling President Bashar al-Assad, the Islamist Nusra Front, is being eclipsed by a more radical jihadi force whose aims go far beyond overthrowing the Syrian leader,\u201d Reuters<\/a> reported last week. \u201cMany Syrians turned a blind eye to the growing presence of foreign and Arab jihadi fighters in its ranks.\u201d<\/p>\n The foreign presence within the ranks of mercenaries in Syria is epitomized by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the head of the Islamic State of Iraq, an al-Qaeda affiliated group. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has relocated to northern Syria to take control of al-Qaeda forces inside the country.<\/p>\n Secretary of State John Kerry and the U.S. government support al-Qaeda in Syria, although they continue to decry the presence of the terrorist group and its offshoots, including al-Nusra.
