href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/polling-institute\/documents\/monmouthpoll_us_031918.pdf\/\">A Monmouth University poll<\/a>\u00a0that found an overwhelming majority of Americans believe a deep state is running government policy, MSNBC\u2019s <em>Morning Joe\u00a0<\/em>panel went into full on panic, suggesting that the notion was invented by President Trump, and that Americans are embracing his \u2018conspiracy theories\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-7MVNlWwx6A\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is real,\u201d\u00a0Mika Brzezinski\u00a0said, suggesting that Trump \u201cmay be on to something\u201d as he continues to call out the intelligence community and highlight their misdeeds and failings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attacks against the so-called deep state \u2026 by the president and some Republicans actually might be taking hold,\u201d Brzezinski told viewers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica is an idea, it\u2019s not a democracy, it\u2019s not a republic before it is an idea,\u201d said analyst Mike Barnicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the idea that 74 percent, according to the Monmouth University poll, believe there is a deep state run by a military-political intellectual hierarchy, apart from government, and this is the gift Richard Haas declared that \u201cThis is not happening in a vacuum,\u201d expressing concern over how a mistrust in a deep state among Americans would affect foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the next two or three months this administration is going to face three enormous decisions, what to do about these tariffs, and what to do about the Iran nuclear agreement, and the idea that it is consumed by this chaotic churn of people and what to do about this investigation, the combination of the two, again, this is about as bad as it gets.\u201d&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a
