Sberbank emerged as the 13th most valuable bank brand worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The rankings and the figures are compiled by American market<br \/>\nresearch company Millward Brown Optimor (MBO). For eight years in a<br \/>\nrow has published the \u2018BrandZ Top 100\u2019 \u2014 a compilation of the<br \/>\nworld\u2019s most valuable brands according to 2012 financial<br \/>\nresults.<\/p>\n<p>Sberbank increased its value by 19 percent to $14.7 billion, and<br \/>\nMTS increased 11 percent to $10.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The rankings take into account financial performance,<br \/>\nadaptability of a company, market influence, and reputation among<br \/>\npeers. This year\u2019s list showed a 7 percent growth year-on-year,<br \/>\nwith a combined value of $2.6 trillion.<\/p>\n<h2>Russian Leaders<\/h2>\n<p>Looking expand globally, Sberbank has heavily invested in brand<br \/>\ndevelopment by way of improving both products and services.<br \/>\nAnastasia Kurovskaya, vice president of MBO EMEA, believe Sberbank<br \/>\nstands out from the competition:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cSberbank is implementing a global bank strategy- they have<br \/>\nintelligently handled foreign asset acquisitions and have created a<br \/>\ngood online banking system.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>According to Kurovskaya, it\u2019s difficult for European, especially<br \/>\nRussian, companies to compete in global ratings. The average value<br \/>\nof the American brand is 2 times more than Asian, and 2.5 times<br \/>\nmore than European.<\/p>\n<p>Sberbank just missed the cut-off for the top ten most valuable<br \/>\nEuropean brands.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MTS mobile operator sales outlet. Exxon<br \/>\nMobil (39), Shell (49), Petrol China (78), and Chevron (97) all<br \/>\nmade the top 100. Gazprom, the world\u2019s largest gas producer, at<br \/>\nnearly 10 million barrels a day, did not. Kremlin operated with a<br \/>\nmarket monopoly, it doesn&#8217;t need a strong brand the way other<br \/>\ncompanies do. Rosneft, also an oil giant, produces more gas than<br \/>\nranked competitors, but like Gazprom, doesn\u2019t spend much on PR or<br \/>\nadvertising.<\/p>\n<h2>The Usuals<\/h2>\n<p>After a rocky financial year plagued by low sales and a tax<br \/>\nevasion scandal, Apple remained the world\u2019s most valuable brand at<br \/>\n$185.1 billion, followed by its Silicon Valley neighbor Google,<br \/>\nwhich has a brand value of $113.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>IBM took third place with a brand valuation of $112 billion,<br \/>\nMcDonald\u2019s took fourth ($90 billion) and Coca-Cola fifth ($78<br \/>\nbillion).<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s, despite the fact that its value compared to the<br \/>\nprevious year fell by 5 percent, still remained the restaurant<br \/>\nchampion of America, beating out Starbucks, a market rival.<\/p>\n<p>Only a year after its initial public offering, Facebook<br \/>\ndisappointed shareholders, and valued by the survey at $21.3<br \/>\nbillion, taking 31st place.<\/p>\n<p>Yahoo, has just returned to the top hundred, this year taking<br \/>\n92nd place. It 2008 it had a brand value of $11.4 billion, and<br \/>\nsince then has dropped, this year at $9.8<br \/>\nbillion.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Toyota has overtaken BMW as the most valuable car brand.<\/p>\n<h2>An accurate reading of Apple?<\/h2>\n<p>Apple shares declined sharply in January, plunging below $400<br \/>\nafter it posted its first profit decline in nearly a decade, which<br \/>\nwas followed by an 18 percent earning dip. The stock closed Monday<br \/>\non the NYSE up 2.2 percent at $442.93, still a long way from the<br \/>\n$705 peak price at the time of the iPhone 5 release in September<br \/>\n2013.<\/p>\n<p>While Apple is currently the most \u2018valuable\u2019 brand, its<br \/>\nvolatility can push down its market capitalization, day by day.
