Furthermore, the agency lacks sufficient documentation for another $384 million spent on construction that is still<em> \u201cin progress.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/414225-us-millions-afghanistan-lost\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdni.rt.com\/files\/2017.12\/thumbnail\/5a415890fc7e93ea2d8b4567.jpg\" alt=\"US troops in Afghanistan July 7, 2017. \u00a9 Omar Sobhani\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition, Ernst &amp; Young said that computer equipment assets worth some $46 million were <em>\u201cinappropriately recorded\u201d<\/em> as belonging to DLA, with the agency unable to produce documentation for another $100 million in computer systems. <em>\u201cWe cannot determine the effect of the lack of sufficient appropriate audit evidence on DLA\u2019s financial statements as a whole,\u201d<\/em> the report concludes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2018\/02\/05\/pentagon-logistics-agency-review-funds-322860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>The audit raises concerns about the oversight of the Pentagon\u2019s spending, as Trump is pushing to increase the US defense budget to $716 billion for 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The agency, with a budget of roughly $40 billion per year has vowed to address the deficiencies highlighted by the audit. However, keeping track of some 25,000 DLA employees who oversee millions of orders from all US armed services units across the globe could prove to be a challenging task.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe key is to use auditor feedback to focus our remediation efforts and corrective action plans and maximize the value from the audits. That\u2019s what we\u2019re doing now,\u201d<\/em> the DLA said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe initial audit has provided us with a valuable independent view of our current financial operations,\u201d<\/em> Army Lt. Gen.
