{"id":341096,"date":"2017-12-26T06:35:46","date_gmt":"2017-12-26T05:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/christmas-dream-dissident-voice\/"},"modified":"2017-12-26T06:35:46","modified_gmt":"2017-12-26T05:35:46","slug":"christmas-dream-dissident-voice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/christmas-dream-dissident-voice\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Dream | Dissident Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"post-75100\">\n<p class=\"subhead\">(Inspired by Washington Irving\u2019s Sketchbook)<\/p>\n<p class=\"byline\">by Paul Cech \/ December 24th, 2017<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>As I walk the wintry paths of Christmas in my dreams,<br \/>I see evergreens bending down and bursting at the seams.<\/p>\n<p>The cold air on this deeply dark night,<br \/>And the drifts of fallen snow,<br \/>Have long been forgotten<br \/>From within houses all aglow.<\/p>\n<p>Inside there are hearts filled with remembering<br \/>A child of the past,<br \/>And there are minds filled with the joy of Santa<br \/>Which causes dreams to last.<\/p>\n<p>There are tables burdened down<br \/>With turkeys, hams and pies.<br \/>There are dressings, puddings, and sweet things<br \/>That widen children\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<p>There is carol singing and storytelling and a mistletoe kiss.<br \/>There is an impatient child giving adults remembered bliss.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I catch sight of two lovers holding hands;<br \/>Love, peace, and joy are all my dream demands.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Author\u2019s Note:\u00a0 This poem is in memory of Deborah Johnson Cech, December 24, 1951 \u2013 June 21, 2017<\/p>\n<p>Paul Cech has been writing poetry since 1970.
