Prince Harry will make his journalistic debut after Christmas by interviewing former US President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__text text  js-mediator-article\">\n<p>The prince, who recently announced his engagement to Meghan Markle, is prepared to ask the tough questions, it seems \u2013 and he\u2019s not afraid to let Obama know that he\u2019ll get <em>\u201cthe face\u201d<\/em> if he takes too long to answer a question. In a snippet released on Sunday, the prince showed off his best stern face, full of glowering mock-contempt.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-POTUS, who left office in January to make room for Donald Trump, offered to put on a British accent for the entirety of the interview. The prince meanwhile admitted he was pretty nervous about questioning the former commander in chief, fiddling with a pen and blushing.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou\u2019re excited about this, I\u2019m nervous about this \u2014 that\u2019s what\u2019s quite funny,\u201d<\/em> the prince said.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0IC3II1i5yM\" frameborder=\"0\" gesture=\"media\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Obama, 56, offered to switch places with the prince.<em> \u201cI\u2019ll interview you if you want,\u201d<\/em> he said, but Harry was quick to refuse.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNo, no, let\u2019s keep it this way,\u201d<\/em> he said. <em>\u201cI\u2019d much prefer that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"arcticle__read-more read-more\">\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"read-more__link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/406216-obama-mock-joke-relationship\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"read-more__cover\" src=\"https:\/\/cdni.rt.com\/files\/2017.10\/thumbnail\/59dc9080fc7e93b93b8b4567.jpg\" alt=\"Former U.S. President Barack Obama. \u00a9\u00a0Reuters\"\/><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p>The interview will be part of Harry\u2019s guest editorship of BBC Radio 4\u2019s Today program.\u00a0It will see the former president share his thoughts on the experience of leaving office and his plans and hopes for life after the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Kensington Palace said the interview was recorded in Toronto, where Harry was visiting the Invictus Games in September. The 40 minute interview is to be broadcast on December 27, and will later be released as a podcast.<\/p>\n<p>The interview is certainly a novel take on the soft-power play of the \u2018special relationship\u2019 between Britain and America. Perhaps Obama, who is widely admired among the British establishment, wants to repair the damage caused to the transatlantic friendship by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/412951-trump-london-visit-2018\/\">Trump\u2019s Twitter account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or perhaps Obama wants to mend his own image in the UK after it emerged he actually thought his country\u2019s <em>\u201cspecial relationship\u201d<\/em> with Britain was a joke, according to one of his ex-aides Jeremy Shapiro.
