Trump told the waiting press that he was<em> \u201cpleased to report that unlike millions of other turkeys at this time of year, Drumstick has a very bright future ahead of him.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">And the National Thanksgiving Turkey is&#8230; DRUMSTICK!<\/p>\n<p>After today&#8217;s ceremony, both Drumstick and Wishbone will join last year\u2019s turkeys, Tater and Tot, at Virginia Tech\u2019s \u201cGobblers Rest\u201d exhibit. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/j3ePj3fCzB\">pic.twitter.com\/j3ePj3fCzB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The White House (@WhiteHouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhiteHouse\/status\/933017674518589440?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 21, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/center><\/div>\n<p>Drumstick and Wishbone will now live out the rest of their blissful Turkey years at Virginia Tech\u2019s <em>\u201cGobbler\u2019s Rest\u201d<\/em> enclosure. Last year\u2019s saved souls,<em> \u2018Tater\u2019<\/em> and<em> \u2018Tot,\u2019<\/em> pardoned by President Obama, also reside at the safe haven. Following the ceremony Trump flew with his family to his Mar a Lago golf club in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The Thanksgiving turkey pardoning is a yearly tradition traced back to President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.
