A lively debate arose on Twitter, however.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On Thursday, RT America announced it will comply with the DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/409349-rt-foreign-agent-doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">demand to register<\/a> under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), but will continue to challenge it in court. The <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/\">Committee to Protect Journalists<\/a> stayed completely silent on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>Comedian and former &#8216;Daily Show&#8217; producer Jena Friedman, however, took up the slack and accused RT of attempting to <em>\u201cdestroy\u201d<\/em> America\u2019s <em>\u201cliberal democracy.\u201d<\/em> She also called comedians for RT America\u2019s popular comedy-news show \u2018Redacted Tonight\u2019 <em>\u201cuseful idiots.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#8217;m not &#8220;ganging up on RT&#8221;, I am literally just calling them out for what they are- a Russian propaganda valve.
