The three richest people in the US \u2013 Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett \u2013 own as much wealth as the bottom half of the US population, or 160 million people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Analysis of the wealth of America\u2019s richest people found that Gates, Bezos and Buffett were sitting on a combined $248.5bn (\u00a3190bn) fortune. The Institute for Policy Studies said the growing gap between rich and poor had created a \u201cmoral crisis\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a report, the Billionaire Bonanza<\/a>, the thinktank said Donald Trump\u2019s tax change proposals would \u201cexacerbate existing wealth disparities\u201d as 80% of tax benefits would end up going to the wealthiest 1% of households.<\/p>\n

\u201cWealth inequality is on the rise,\u201d said Chuck Collins, an economist and co-author of the report. \u201cNow is the time for actions that reduce inequality, not tax cuts for the very wealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n
