He told RT it was \u201coutright insulting for the British government and the British people\u201d to suggest Russia interfered. <\/p>\n<div class=\"article__text text  js-mediator-article\">\n<p>The ambassador suggested that due to the difficulties surrounding Brexit it was becoming easy to blame Russian interference, though he wondered \u201c<em>which side<\/em>\u201d the accusations would say his country supported.<\/p>\n<p>The UK Parliament&#8217;s Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee recently announced that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/407630-russian-hackers-brexit-vote\/\">contacted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg<\/a>\u00a0to request information on Facebook pages and advertising carried out by Russian-linked accounts in the months leading up to the 2016 referendum and this year\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9g1f1UF9NgY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yakovenko dismissed the potential findings of the investigation, quoting US President Ronald Reagan and asking \u201c<em>where is the beef?<\/em>\u201d He added that \u201c<em>there will be some allegations but no facts, this will be the outcome<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yakovenko also rejected the accusations of Russian interference in other elections, namely the presidential votes in the US in 2016 and in France this year, as also being groundless. \u201c<em>This is quite convenient to make Russia some kind of scapegoat for everything that\u2019s going wrong,<\/em>\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-edge\/407858-rt-twitter-us-election\/\">Revealed: How Twitter pushed RT to spend big on 2016 US election<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ambassador&#8217;s comments follow Twitter banning RT and Sputnik from advertising on their site, justifying the ban due to the news outlets\u2019 supposed attempts \u201c<em>to interfere with the election on behalf of the Russian government.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/407876-ambassador-yakovenko-insulting-brexit\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=RSS\">RT<\/a>.
