(Screen shot from Whitehouse.gov)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whether explicitly or not, Trump\u2019s vow to work with Congress to renegotiate the Iran nuclear agreement, and his explicit threat to withdraw from the deal if no renegotiation takes place, appear to be satisfying the hardline demands Netanyahu has made of Washington\u2019s policy toward Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Netanyahu has continued to demand that Trump either withdraw from the\u00a0Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)\u00a0or make far-reaching changes that he knows are impossible to achieve. In Netanyahu\u2019s Sept. 19 speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu declared, \u201cIsrael\u2019s policy toward the nuclear deal with Iran is very simple: Change it or cancel it.\u201d And he made no secret of what that meant: If Trump doesn\u2019t \u201ccancel\u201d the deal, he must\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/1.813336\">get rid of<\/a> its \u201csunset clause\u201d and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/articles\/0,7340,L-5017434,00.html\">demand<\/a>\u00a0that Iran end its advanced centrifuges and long-range missile program, among other fundamentally unattainable objectives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/the-press-office\/2017\/10\/13\/remarks-president-trump-iran-strategy\">Trump\u2019s statement on Oct. 13<\/a>\u00a0managed to include both of the either\/or choices that Netanyahu had given him.
