{"id":329586,"date":"2017-10-08T17:42:43","date_gmt":"2017-10-08T16:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/protesters-urge-uk-government-to-cease-drone-strikes\/"},"modified":"2017-10-08T17:42:43","modified_gmt":"2017-10-08T16:42:43","slug":"protesters-urge-uk-government-to-cease-drone-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/protesters-urge-uk-government-to-cease-drone-strikes\/","title":{"rendered":"Protesters urge UK government to cease drone strikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>A group of British anti-war activists have staged a rally in Lincolnshire, asking the government of UK Prime Minister Theresa May to end the country\u2019s drone strikes across the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gathering outside the Royal Air Force (RAF)\u2019s Waddington airbase on Saturday, the protesters said the\u00a0unmanned aircraft threaten civilians.<\/p>\n<p>The airbase is home to the UK\u2019s 39 Squadron, which operates the highly advanced US-made Reaper drones.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Reaper can carry 500lb (227kg) bombs and Hellfire missiles.
