At least three people have been killed and nearly 20 others wounded in a bomb explosion outside the home of an Iraqi army intelligence officer northwest of the capital, Baghdad.\n<\/p>\n
Police officials said that the bomb attack was carried out on Saturday when a tanker truck packed with explosives hit the house of Brigadier Khalaf al-Jubouri in al-Shurqat district, about 250 kilometers (155 miles) northwest of Baghdad.\n<\/p>\n
Police said that al-Jubouri remained safe because he was not home at the time of the blast, but his son, nephew and sister-in-law were killed.\n<\/p>\n
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Iraqi al-Qaeda frequently carries out coordinated bombings hitting targets such as mosques, markets and restaurants.\n<\/p>\n
On Friday, three worshippers were killed and seven others wounded in a bomb attack close to a mosque in the city of Mahaweel, 55 kilometers (35 miles) south of Baghdad.\n<\/p>\n
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said on May 2 that April had been the deadliest month in Iraq since 2008 as terrorist acts killed over 700 people and injured more than 1, 600 others across the country.\n<\/p>\n
