We should do everything possible to match them in order to win with our economy. Jobs and wages!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The president has called for a 15 percent corporate tax rate, a major drop from the current 35 percent. Roping in China on the issue, on the day of the decision to strike down an international business deal, is evidence that tax reform could also impact trade policy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">China has a business tax rate of 15%. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/908154067658174469\">September 14, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/center><\/div>\n<p>White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/the-press-office\/2017\/09\/13\/statement-press-secretary-president-donald-j-trumps-decision-regarding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> referencing China\u2019s stake in the deal, saying the<em> \u201cnational-security risk posed by the transaction relates to, among other things, the potential transfer of intellectual property to the foreign acquirer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Before Trump issued Wednesday\u2019s executive order, the president\u2019s former chief strategist told CBS\u2019s <em>\u201860 Minutes\u2019<\/em> program on September 10 that Trump faces obstruction from within Washington\u2019s political establishment in regards to how he handles economic issues.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;They do not want Donald Trump&#8217;s populist, economic nationalist agenda to be implemented,&#8221;<\/em> Bannon said.<\/p>\n<p>In a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington earlier this year, Bannon stated that economic nationalism was the antithesis of<em> \u201cglobalism,\u201d<\/em> which he described as being a governing creed that puts the economic interests of the wealthy international elite and multinational firms above those of normal working class Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Trump made criticism of China a pillar of his 2016 presidential campaign, and continued to call out the country&#8217;s economic dealings with the US during his time as president-elect.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into..<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald J. However, they have been pushed back by the US government with regards to investments in the technology sector. Beijing has shown an interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning, among other technologies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-china-artificialintelligence\/u-s-weighs-restricting-chinese-investment-in-artificial-intelligence-idUSKBN1942OX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Due to China\u2019s continuing interest in Silicon Valley investments, the US has taken steps to strengthen the role of the the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS),<\/p>\n<p>an inter-agency committee that reviews foreign acquisitions of companies in the US on national security grounds.<\/p>\n<p>But some experts are warning that stronger regulations by the US on China may not be a good idea. <em>\u201cThere will be a significant pushback from the technology industry\u201d<\/em> if legislation is too aggressive, Economist Thilo Hanemann of the Rhodium Group said in June, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Chinese investment should not be <em>\u201cpolitically overinterpreted\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cinterfered with politically,\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-china-artificialintelligence\/u-s-weighs-restricting-chinese-investment-in-artificial-intelligence-idUSKBN1942OX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/401929-assange-trump-trade-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">READ MORE: Trump will be <em>\u2018deposed immediately\u2019<\/em> if he blocks trade with China over N.
