There is \u201cmounting evidence\u201d which suggests that Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were involved in an unsolved triple homicide in 2011, according to Massachusetts investigators.<\/p>\n

Forensic evidence from the crime scene matched the brothers\u2019
\nDNA, and cell phone records put them in the area of the murders on
\nthe date they occurred, officials told ABC News.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, authorities in
\nMiddlesex County began to investigate the link between Tamerlan and
\nBrendan Mess – one of the three men killed in the triple
\nhomicide.<\/p>\n

Mess and two other men were found in a Waltham, Massachusetts
\nresidence with their throats slit and their bodies covered with
\nmarijuana on September 11, 2011. Tamerlan and Mess were once
\nroommates and practiced boxing and martial arts together.<\/p>\n

The officials stressed that until more definitive DNA testing is
\ncomplete, it is still too early to bring an indictment against the
\nsurviving suspect, Dzhokhar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cold case was made active again once the victims\u2019 family and
\nfriends saw the Tsarnaev brothers\u2019 photos in the media. It was then
\nthat they were reminded of Tamerlan\u2019s behavior after the murders.
\nHe did not attend Mess\u2019 funeral and disappeared from the martial
\narts gym where the men had sparred together.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan
\ndeclined to comment on the brothers\u2019 possible involvement. Miriam
\nConrad, one of the attorneys representing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, also
\ndeclined to comment through her legal assistant.<\/p>\n

Tamerlan, the deceased suspect, was buried in a Virginia
\ncemetery, according to a death certificate released Friday. The
\ndocument says that he was shot by police before being run over and
\ndragged by a motor vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cause of death was gunshot wounds of the torso and
\nextremities and blunt trauma to the head and torso. He was
\npronounced dead at 1:35am on April 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news comes after a week of protests outside the funeral home
\nwhich was keeping his body. The funeral home struggled to find a
\ncemetery to accept the suspect\u2019s body.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has been buried at Al-Barzakh Cemetery in Doswell, Virginia,
\nimam of the Virginia Islamic Center, Ammar Amonette, told Reuters.
\nHe added that he disapproved of the decision to bury Tamerlan at
\nthe Muslim cemetery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was done by individuals without our knowledge or
\nconsent…we are quite upset. It’s affected thousands of Muslims
\nand we were not consulted. It has nothing to do with us,”<\/i> he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

Tamerlan\u2019s younger brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar, is being held
\nin a prison west of Boston after being charged with crimes which
\ncarry the death penalty. The bombings killed three people and
\ninjured 264 others on April 18.<\/p>\n
