{"id":325578,"date":"2017-09-11T17:28:35","date_gmt":"2017-09-11T16:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/terrorists-in-germanys-parliament\/"},"modified":"2017-09-11T17:28:35","modified_gmt":"2017-09-11T16:28:35","slug":"terrorists-in-germanys-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/newswire\/terrorists-in-germanys-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrorists in Germany\u2019s Parliament?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>      <!-- START CONTENT --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bruce Bawer<\/strong><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatestoneinstitute.org\/10957\/germany-election-pflp-terrorists\">Gatestone Institute<\/a><br \/>Sept 11, 2017<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a remarkable decision taken at the end of August, Germany\u2019s Interior Ministry <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/Arab-Israeli-Conflict\/Germany-to-permit-Palestinian-terrorist-group-to-field-Bundestag-candidates-503836\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">declined to bar<\/a> the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PFLP<\/a>) \u2014 listed as a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, the European Union, and Australia \u2014 \u201cfrom campaigning as a political party in the September general election to the Bundestag.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, the PFLP \u2014 on a joint list with the Marxist-Leninist Party \u2014 plans to field candidates in this month\u2019s elections in Germany and run for Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>What is the PFLP? Formed shortly after Israel\u2019s Six-Day War through the merger of three militant groups \u2014 The Young Avengers (Palestinian nationalists), The Heroes of the Return (based in Lebanon), and the Palestinian Liberation Front (which operated largely out of Syria and the West Bank) \u2014 it is today, after Fatah, the second largest faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-30099510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Described<\/a> variously as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blend<\/a> of \u201cPalestinian nationalism with Marxist ideology\u201d and as \u201ca Palestinian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thoughtco.com\/1968-pflp-hijacking-of-el-al-flight-3209270\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nationalist<\/a> organization with different ideological outlooks at different times (from Arab nationalist, to Maoist, to Leninist),\u201d it has called for Israel\u2019s destruction and international communist revolution.<\/p>\n<p>Considered more radical than Fatah, it has, ever since its founding, routinely targeted civilians without remorse. During its early days, it was on friendly terms with Germany\u2019s Red Army Faction (the Baader-Meinhof Gang) and received funding from the USSR and China.
