As the media reported at the time, \u201cthe hairdresser, who the leaked contract names only as Oliver B, is set to earn half a million pounds over the course of Hollande\u2019s current premiership, in exchange for being available at every waking moment and signing a contract promising not to speak about his position.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fact that this was probably not the best way to spend French taxpayers\u2019 money was confirmed this past summer, when Hollande\u2019s approval rating was so low, the socialist president did not even run for re-election: a first in French history. Sadly, this was lost on Hollande\u2019s former Minister of Economy \u2013 and current president \u2013 Emmanuel Macron who failed to learn from the mistakes of his former boss.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lepoint.fr\/politique\/les-indiscrets-du-point-sans-fard-24-08-2017-2151822_20.php\">French magazine Le Point<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>French President Emmanuel Macron spent \u20ac26,000 \u2013 over $30,000 \u2013 on makeup in his first three months as leader of the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/emmanuel-macron-spent-e26000-on-makeup-in-three-months\/\">Politico adds, \u201c<\/a>Macron\u2019s personal makeup artist put in two claims for payment, one for \u20ac10,000 and another for \u20ac16,000, for doing his makeup during his travels and ahead of press conferences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about this abuse of taxpayer funds, The Elysee Palace said in response: \u201cWe called in a contractor as a matter of urgency.\u201d Still, aides said that spending on makeup would be \u201c<strong>significantly reduced<\/strong>\u201d in future, Le Point reported.<\/p>\n<p>It gets better: according to the report, the amount spent was less than under Macron\u2019s predecessors.
