Spain is experiencing a huge surge in migrants using it as an entry point to get into Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 8,200 migrants have landed on Spanish shores this year\u00a0so far<\/a>, more than triple the number that arrived in the same period last year and more than the total number of people who arrived in 2016.<\/p>\n

Last week, stunned holidaymakers watched on as\u00a0a boat load of migrants stormed the beech<\/a>\u00a0they were relaxing on, in broad daylight, before running ashore to start their new lives in Europe.<\/p>\n

It is believed the route is becoming more and more popular because of the EU\u2019s deal with Turkey, which allows migrants to\u00a0be processed in Greece and sent back to Turkey. The deal has seen the number of people entering Europe via Greece drop\u00a0from\u00a0156,267 in the first 5 months of last year, to just\u00a07,043 in the same period this year.<\/p>\n

Migrants are also using a land route to get to Spanish territory, \u2018thousands\u2019 of migrants have tried their luck over the last few weeks,\u00a0using sticks, stones and other makeshift weapons to\u00a0<\/a>breach Ceuta\u2019s border with Morocco \u2013 the EU\u2019s only land border with Africa.<\/p>\n
