Debbie Wasserman Schultz says she \u201cdid the right thing\u201d by not immediately dismissing an IT staffer after he was banned from the House computer network and fired by other members of Congress.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that I did the right thing, and I would do it again,\u201d Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said Thursday in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/news\/politics\/fl-reg-wasserman-schultz-discusses-imran-awan-20170802-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an interview with the Sun Sentinel<\/a>. \u201cThere are times when you can\u2019t be afraid to stand alone and you have to stand up for what\u2019s right. It would have been easier for me to just fire him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Imran Awan\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/feds-arrest-former-it-staffer-for-debbie-wasserman-schultz-as-he-tried-to-flee-the-country\/article\/2629685\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was arrested on bank fraud charges<\/a>\u00a0by federal officials last week as he was attempting to leave the country for Pakistan.
