US President Donald Trump has called for an expansive post-Brexit trade deal with Britain, offering American food producers greater access to the UK market. He also cautioned Scotland against holding a second vote on independence.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump called for one big deal that would \u201cinclude everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked whether such an agreement \u201ccould kick in pretty much as soon as Brexit happens,\u201d Trump said \u201cas soon as it\u2019s appropriate to have it kick in, absolutely. And it\u2019ll be a big trade deal – much, much more business than we do right now, many, many times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a very good relationship. I have a very good relationship with the prime minister. And we are absolutely looking to do a major trade deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said the \u201cvery all-in\u201d deal will involve greater trade in such sectors as financial services and agriculture.<\/p>\n

This confirms fears chlorine-washed chicken and hormone-treated beef, currently banned under EU health regulations, may end up on the tables of British families after the UK withdraws from the European Union.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Trump blasted the EU leadership for impeding American farmers from accessing the British food market.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a very good relationship with the EU people and all, but they are very, very protectionist,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur farmers and others can\u2019t even deal with (them) you can\u2019t sell in. It\u2019s very unfair. And that\u2019s what I\u2019ve been talking about for a long time.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so stacked against the United States,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EU was conceived to the point that they wanted to do something to compete with the United States. You could say that\u2019s a friendly act or an unfriendly act. But it\u2019s very protectionist. We have farm products that you just can\u2019t get into the EU. And we don\u2019t do that to them,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

The US President also weighed in on the prospects of a second independence referendum in Scotland, suggesting it should not happen, so the country would continue to participate in the British Open golf tournament.<\/p>\n

Trump, an avid golf fan with his own private courses in Scotland, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIs Scotland going to go for the vote… It would be terrible. They just went through hell. One little thing, what would they do with the British Open if they ever got out? They\u2019d no longer have the British Open… Scotland. Keep it in Scotland,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
