But not all scientists agreed, and more research using biomechanical approaches has indicated the predator moved at much slower speeds. <\/p>\n<p>In a study published in <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0BzGrFBtalE6wby0wbWJqWXJHZ1E0Tkh6bjJ5Mi0xdWphVDRB\/view\">Peer J <\/a>on Tuesday, a team from the University of Manchester created a detailed anatomical computer model of the 7-tonne dinosaur to calculate the load on its skeleton at various speeds and gaits.<\/p>\n<p>They found that its skeleton was perfectly capable of moving at a run \u2013 defined as having both feet off the ground at the same time \u2013 but if it had ever actually done so, its bones would have shattered. <\/p>\n<p>Researchers believe T-Rex\u2019s maximum speed peaked at around 7.7 meters per second, or just over 17 miles an hour. <\/p>\n<p>Runner Usain Bolt, during the 100-meter sprint, has clocked speeds of over 27 miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe present a new approach &#8230; to demonstrate that true running gaits would probably lead to unacceptably high skeletal loads in T-Rex,\u201d<\/em> Sellers says.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBeing limited to walking speeds contradicts arguments of high-speed pursuit predation for the largest bipedal dinosaurs like T-Rex.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The research also suggests that other similar sized and shaped dinosaurs \u2013 such as Giganotosaurus, Mapusaurus, and Acrocanthosaurus \u2013 may not have been able to run.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/uk\/396700-trex-run-broken-legs\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=RSS\">RT<\/a>.
