{"id":31752,"date":"2013-04-29T16:38:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-29T15:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=31752"},"modified":"2013-04-30T18:15:21","modified_gmt":"2013-04-30T17:15:21","slug":"supreme-court-blocks-freedom-of-information-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/latest-news\/supreme-court-blocks-freedom-of-information-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Blocks Freedom Of Information Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rinf.com\"><strong>RINF Alternative News<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court has ruled that the state of\u00a0Virginia can legally block out-of-state people from using its\u00a0Freedom of Information Act requests to obtain state documents.<\/p>\n<p>The court unanimously upheld a federal appeals court decision validating Virginia&#8217;s limitation of its FOIA law to state citizens and some media outlets, and\u00a0refused two men who attempted to use the FOAI law because they are not\u00a0Virginia citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The men from California and Rhode Island have stated that the decision is\u00a0unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Samuel Alito, who was nominated to the\u00a0United States Court of Appeals\u00a0by President\u00a0George H. W. Bush\u00a0in 1990 and then\u00a0nominated to the\u00a0U.S. Supreme Court by\u00a0George W.
